HICKORY, N.C. – The UVA Wise women's track team competed in the South Atlantic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships for the first time this week.
The team placed tenth in the competition while competing in 13 events.
TRACK RESULTS
100 Meter Dash –
Destiny Ansley-Cureton (12.60) and
Madison Outland (12.62) placed 17
th and 19
th, respectively.
200 Meter Dash – Ansley-Cureton was 21
st with a time of 26.27 and Outland finished 24
th with a time of 26.62.
800 Meters –
Lydia Slemp finished in 20
th place with a time of 2:31.13,
1500 Meters – Slemp ran a time of 5:05.40 and placed 19
th.
10,000 Meters –
Alexsis Porter placed 16
th with her time of 43:17.58.
4X100 Relay – Outland, Ansley-Cureton,
Nicole Poston, and
Mady Buchanan finished eighth with a 53.22 time.
FIELD RESULTS
Pole Vault – Buchanan had a new school record with her vault of 2.53 meters (8' 3.5").
Long Jump – Ansley-Cureton finished in 14
th place with her jump of 4.97m (16' 3.75"), while Outland was 20
th with 4.76m (15' 7.5").
Triple Jump – Outland leapt 9.97 meters (32' 8.5") to finish 17
th and
Alyssa Barker (9.46m – 31' 0.5") placed 20
th.
Shot Put –
Nia Rogers set a new school record as she finished fifth with a throw of 12.25m (40' 2.25").
Discus – Rogers,
Olyvia Fleming, and
Emma Dingus all competed, with Rogers placing sixth with 35.57m (116' 8"). Fleming was eleventh with 33.20m (108' 11"), while Dingus finished 26
th with 24.89m (81' 8").
Hammer –Fleming (35.93m - 117' 10") placed 16
th and Dingus (31.95m – 104' 10") was 21
st.
Javelin – Buchanan placed seventh with a throw of 30.51m (100' 1"), and Dingus finished 22
nd with 21.28m (69' 10").
The meet ends the inaugural season for the track and field team.
