LYNCHBURG, VA – The women's track team had a very good weekend at the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic in Lynchburg, highlighted by the first-year program's first win in an event.
The women had multiple top-20 finishes, highlighted by the win in Shot Put and top five finishes in the 100 Meter Dash, 10K Run and Long Jump
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
100 Meter Dash –
Destiny Ansley-Cureton finished fifth with a 12.57 time.
Madison Outland ran a 12.99 time and placed eleventh.
200 Meter Dash – Ansley-Cureton (10
th – 26.29) and Outland (11
th – 26.31) placed back-to-back in this event.
1500 Run – With a time of 5:07.63,
Lydia Slemp finished in 14
th place.
4X400 Relay – The relay team placed twelfth with a time of 4:34.80.
10,000 Meter Run –
Alexsis Porter was fourth with a time of 40:59.43.
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Shot Put –
Nia Rogers became the first women's track and field athlete at UVA Wise to win an outdoor event as she placed first with a throw of 39' 3.75"
Long Jump – Ansley Cureton was second with a jump of 17' 10.5", while Outland finished fifth with her jump of 17' 5".
Triple Jump – Outland jumped for 35' 0" to place seventh. Ansley Cureton finished in ninth with a jump of 33' 9.5".
Javelin –
Mady Buchanan (93' 7") placed tenth, Rogers (74' 6") was 14
th, and
Emma Dingus (60' 0.5") finished 17
th.
Hammer Throw – Rogers placed seventh with a 131' 9" throw.

The team will again make the trip to Lynchburg, this time to compete in the Randolph College Wildcat Invitational from April 19-20.
