LYNCHBURG, VA – The UVA Wise women's track and field team had a strong showing in the Hornet Open, hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
The women had several top-20 finishes, highlighted by a second place finish in the Long Jump and fourth place finish in the Shot Put.
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
100 Meter Dash –
Destiny Ansley-Cureton finished in seventh with a time of 12.50, followed closely by
Madison Outland in ninth with 12.63.
1500 Run –
Alexsis Porter came in eighth with her 5:24.23 time.
4X100 Relay – The relay team placed seventh with a time of 52.48.
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
Long Jump – Ansley-Cureton placed second as she leapt 17' 7".
Shot Put –
Nia Rogers threw for 38' 1.25" to finish in fourth place.
Triple Jump – Outland jumped for 35' 3" to place seventh.
Javelin –
Mady Buchanan (80' 6.5") and
Emma Dingus (75' 3") placed seventeenth and eighteenth, respectively.
Hammer Throw – Rogers threw 118' 5.5" to finish thirteenth and
Olyvia Fleming came in sixteenth with a throw of 110' 3.5".
Discus – Fleming (111' 6") finished eighth and Rogers (105' 6.75") placed ninth.

The team will return to action on April 12 and 13 when they return to Lynchburg to compete in the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic.
