LYNCHBURG, VA – The UVA Wise men's track and field team had a strong showing in the Hornet Open, hosted by the University of Lynchburg.
The men had several top-20 finishes, highlighted by top five finishes in the Long Jump, 100 Meter Dash, and 200 Meter Dash.
TRACK HIGHLIGHTS
100 Meter Dash –
Caleb Yeary placed fourth with a time of 10.64, a new school record.
200 Meter Dash – Yeary placed third in the event with his 21.80 time.
1500 Run –
Jonah Adams had a time of 4:14.42 to place eighth.
4X100 Relay – The relay team placed seventh with a time of 43.24.
FIELD HIGHLIGHTS
High Jump – For the second meet in a row,
Patrick Shelley won the High Jump, this time with a jump of 6' 5.75".
Long Jump –
Colton Mullins placed fifteenth as he leapt 18' 9".
Shot Put –
Hunter Blevins (37' 11") was sixteenth while
Bobby Cline (36' 3.75") placed nineteenth.
Triple Jump – Mullins jumped for 39' 5" to place ninth.
Javelin –
Zachary Owens threw for 141' 10.25" to place sixth and Blevins placed seventh with a throw of 135' 11.25".
Hammer Throw – Cline threw 138' 7.25" to finish twelfth and
Ryan Campbell came in eighteenth with a throw of 123' 7.75".
Discus – Cline threw for 120' 2.5" to finish fourteenth.

The team will return to action on April 12 and 13 when they return to Lynchburg to compete in the Dennis Craddock Coaches Classic.
