Box Score 2 HARROGATE, TENN. – The Cavalier women's tennis team (5-3, 0-0 SAC) resumed action this past weekend with the opening of its spring portion of the schedule.
UVA Wise took on Belmont Abbey and Young Harris in a pair of matches hosted at Lincoln Memorial University.
On Saturday, against Belmont Abbey, the Cavs nearly took the first doubles match of the day behind sophomore duo Constanca Azinhaga and Antonella Compodonico.
Azinhaga and Compodonico forced the match into a tie-breaking set before falling 7-2 in the tiebreaker.
UVA Wise would get a doubles win from sophomores Lucy Cunliffe and Christina Korakopoulou as they took down Belmont Abbey's Elizabeth Vollmin and Rebekka Collyer 6-4.
The Cavs were unable to pick up a win in the singles portion of the match, ultimately falling in the end by a final score of 7-0 to Belmont Abbey.
On Sunday, against Young Harris, the Cavs also struggled to find the necessary scoring to pull out wins in the doubles and singles sections of the match.
Young Harris also defeated UVA Wise 7-0.
Next for the Cavs, they continue on the road to face the University of Pikeville on Saturday, Feb. 10 starting at 12 p.m.
