Danville, KY – The UVA Wise Men's track and field team continued their indoor campaign at the Centre College Indoor Invitational. The meet took place in the Lisa H. Owens Field House on the campus of Centre College. In the competition, the Cavaliers placed four athletes in the top-ten.
Junior
Caleb Yeary continued his string of strong performances. Yeary set two personal bests in the 60m dash. In the preliminary round, Yeary beat his previous best time, running 7.07 to finish sixth and advance to the final. In the final round, he improved on his personal best time, clocking 7.04 to take sixth overall in the event. Yeary added another top-ten finish in the long jump, finishing ninth with a jump of 6.35m (20-10).
Junior
Hunter Blevins notched a top-ten finish in the shot put with a throw of 12.99m(42-7.5). Competing in his home state of Kentucky, Blevins finished fourth overall in the event. Blevins also notched a personal best in the weight throw. His threw the 35lb weight 12.89m (42-3.5) to take 12
th in the event.
In other notable performances, freshman
Colton Mullins finished eighth, and
Bennett Estremera finished ninth, respectively in the high jump. The pair notched personal bests in the event with Mullins clearing 1.85m(6-0.75) and Estremera besting 1.80m (5-10.75).
The Cavaliers will return to action next week as the team will round out the "regular season" at the JDL Last Chance Invitational next week in Winston-Salem, NC.
