CAVS GET STANDOUT PERFORMANCES AT VMI INVITATIONAL

Lexington, VA – The UVA Wise men's track and field team was back in action this week as the Cavs traveled to Virginia Military Institute for the VMI Invitational.

Junior Caleb Yeary had an excellent weekend turning in personal bests in the 60m dash and the long jump. Yeary started his day in the long jump where he finished No. 14 overall. On his last attempt of the day, Yeary jumped 6.43m (21-1.25) to best his previous lifetime record by almost 5 in. He would come back later in the afternoon to capture his second personal best of the day, running a 7.12 and finishing No. 17 overall in the preliminary round.

Freshman Colton Mullins continued his string of strong performances as he captured a top-ten finish for the Cavs in the high jump. Mullins cleared 1.82m on his third attempt at the height to secure 9th place and a new personal best.

Junior Jonah Adams raced to a 15-second improvement from his 3000m time last week. Adams completed the distance in 9:26.03. The time was good enough for a 16th place finish in the event.

The Highland Cavaliers will enjoy a week off of competition and return to action on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Centre College Invitational.
