CAVS LOOKING TO KNOCK OFF NO. 8 CATAWBA SATURDAY

After spending the weekend away from home, UVA Wise returns to the friendly confines of the David J. Prior Convocation Center with a tough matchup against WBCA No. 8 Catawba.

THE NOTES TO KNOW
• Fifth-year Caitlyn Ross remains on the verge of history entering Saturday's contest. With four points, Ross will become the leading scorer in the Div. II era of program history. Should Ross reach the milestone, she will become the seventh al-time leading scorer in UVA Wise history.

• After a three-day road trip against Carson-Newman and Coker last weekend, the Cavs are back at the Prior Center. UVA Wise will remain at home for five of its next six games. The Cavs have a 5-2 record in friendly territory this season.

• The Cavs will welcome one if their toughest opponents of the season to the David J. Prior Convocation Center Saturday afternoon. The Catawba Indians are ranked as the No. 8 team in the country by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. The Indians are 13-2 this year and currently on a three-game win streak.

• Catawba is led in scoring by senior guard Lyrik Thorne at 20.4 points per game which leads the South Atlantic Conference and is top five nationally. Thorne averages 2.47 made three pointers per game, third in the SAC.

• The Cavs received a pair of standout performances in a 75-68 loss at Coker last Saturday. Junior guard Sable Burnside had a team-high 18 points, marking her seventh double- figure outing this season and second in the last three games.

• Freshman forward Makenzie Bremer chipped in the best performance of her career. With 13 points, Bremer set a new career high for her first collegiate season. She knocked down three triples in the game, also a career best.

• Catawba boasts one of the best three-point shooting offenses in the country. The Indians average 24.7 attempts per game from beyond the arc and knock down 8.2 triples each contest. With their three-point percentage of 33.2 percent, Catawba sits in the top three of the SAC in all three categories.
