RICHMOND, Ky. - - Behind Abby Peterson's fourth-place finish as an individual, UVA Wise finished fifth at the Alice Lloyd College Women's Golf Invitational held this weekend. The Cavaliers shot 697 as a team with Indiana Tech taking home the team title with a score of 663.
Peterson shaved five strokes off her day one score of 86 to shoot a 167 for the tournament and finish in a tie for fourth place. The freshman was -1 on the back nine Sunday thanks to back-to-back eagles on hole No. 11 and hole No. 12. The Bluefield, Va. product shot par or better on six of the final nine holes she played.
Olivia Baker tied for 18th as she shot 175 thanks to an 87 in round two. The former Lee County High School standout finished with 11 pars across the 36-hole event.
Julia Kessler tied for 24th after making par on 8-of-11 holes to finish the tournament. Kessler shot a 177 in the event behind an 83 on day two.
Sarah Arnold tied for 26th with a 178 while Savannah Burdsall shot a 196 to tie for 42nd, rounding out Cavs in the event.
Robin Dotson's team will wrap up the spring season at the South Atlantic Conference Championship held at Cobbs Glenn Country Club April 1 – April 4.
