NEWTON, N.C. - Cavalier men's cross country took another trip south to North Carolina, this time coming away with 295 points and a 12th place finish in the SAC Championships.
In spite of a tough finishing position the Cavs top three runners each came home in a school record setting time.
Sophomore Jonah Adams came across the line first for UVA Wise and now holds the Cavalier record 8K time with a 25:32.10. His school record pace placed him in 46th for the event.
Freshman Eric Hegg crossed the line next for the Cavs with yet another school record breaking pace and a time of 25:40.69. His career best performance slotted him into 50th place overall.
Freshman Chad Douglas closed out the top three finishers for UVA Wise with a 63rd place finish and a time of 26:16.00, yet another mark that came in below the former school record time.
Wingate senior Jakob Rettschlag set a blazing pace to take home the individual title with a time of 22:51.55. His performance helped Wingate wrap up the time title as well, coming home 275 points clear of UVA Wise.
Next up on the schedule for the Cavs is a trip to Oakwood, Ga. to compete in the NCAA Southeast Regional on Nov. 4.
