SMITH, GOLATT, TRIMBLE, AND ALLEN EARN SAC ACCOLADES

WISE, VA —The South Atlantic Conference honored a quartet of UVA Wise lacrosse student-athletes when the league announced its end-of-year awards on Thursday, April 28. Erin Smith earned First-Team All-SAC honors for a second consecutive season while teammates Katie Allen, Grace Golatt, and Mallory Trimble earned Third-Team All-SAC in a vote conducted by the league office and the conference's coaches.

Smith, a redshirt senior from Fredericksburg, Virginia repeated as a first-team all-league performer following a senior season that saw her become the program's all-time leader in groundballs with 189.  The defender had six or more groundballs in six contests this spring in a season where she caused 43 turnovers.

Smith's senior year was highlighted with a seven groundball, seven caused turnover performance in her squad's 12-10 win over Newberry. The defender added six groundballs and six caused turnovers a week later in UVA Wise's 20-13 triumph over Tusculum. Her 37 caused turnovers in SAC games was a league-best while her 47 groundballs in conference games ranked third in the conference.

Allen picked up third-team all-league honors after being a preseason all-conference pick. The senior from Dumfries, Virginia netted a team-high 36 goals as part of a season that saw the attacker record seven hat tricks.
Allen finished her career with 105 goals to finish with the fourth-most goals in program history. Her season was highlighted by a five-goal game in an 18-14 win at Mars Hill.

Freshman Grace Golatt picked up third-team all-conference accolades after an inaugural collegiate season that saw her net 25 goals and tie for the team lead with 49 draw controls.
The Upper Marlboro, Maryland native registered a season-high five goals in a game against nationally-ranked Wingate. Overall, the midfielder tallied five hat tricks including a four-goal day against Tusculum.

Trimble earned third-team honors after being an honorable mention pick last season. Trimble tied for the team lead with 49 draw controls. The Chesterfield, Virginia product tallied a trio of hat tricks, including two in the season's final two contests.

Trimble added 46 groundballs and 36 caused turnovers to her stat line as she set the single-game program record with 10 caused turnovers in the season finale at Coker.
