CAVS FACE LENOIR-RHYNE ON SENIOR DAY

UVA WISE NOTES

The UVA Wise Cavaliers ran into a hiccup last week in their climb up the South Atlantic Conference standings as they took a two game loss to non-conference opponent Emory & Henry by scores of 14-11 and 10-2 on March 26.

-The sweep by the Wasps snapped the Cavaliers' four-game win streak

-Before the sweep, the Cavaliers had defeated three nationally-ranked SAC opponents (No. 21 Anderson, No. 12 Lincoln Memorial, and No. 18 Carson-Newman).

-The Cavaliers were ble to bounce back and snag an extra-innings 9-5 win over Limestone in Game 2 on March 29, after a hearty offensive performance from Alexis Miles and Mallory McKnight

-As of March 29, Jenna McDermott leads the UVA Wise effort with 31 hits on the season and a slugging % of .634

UVA Wise Seniors

Prior to the doubleheader on April 2,  UVA Wise will honor their three seniors — Kaylee Jones, Alexis Miles, and Sydney Collins.

JONES: A native of Coeburn, Va., Jones is a five-year member of the program. On February 6th of this year, the senior became the 9th player in program history to reach 100 career RBIs after she homered twice in their 3-0 win against Converse.

MILES: A native of Hudgins, Va., Miles is a five-year member of the program. Miles sits in front of the top home-run hitters in UVA Wise history with 38 home runs to date.

COLLINS: A native of Holly Springs, N.C., has been a four-year prpgram member. So far this season, Collins has swiped 33 strikeouts in 14 starts, with a 7-5 record. Collins pitched a career-high nine strikeouts in their season-opening 14-4 win against Converse on February 6.

LENOIR-RHYNE NOTES

The Lenoir-Rhyne Bears have found themselves in third place in the South Atlantic Conference standings as the squad has only picked up three conference losses (Queens on March 15 and #22 Anderson on March 19).

-Standout pitcher Lauren Rakes has snagged Astroturf SAC Pitcher of the Week Honors three times in a row this season (Feb. 22, March 1, March 8). The junior has pitched a total 184 striekouts this season alone

-Rakes ranks fourth in the SAC in ERA with a 1.95

- The Bears are currently on a four-game win streak

-Kylee Leonhardt leads the squad in slugging with a .777. She adds nine homers, 31 RBIs, and 36 overall hits on the season
