The South Atlantic Conference announced UVA Wise's Jenna McDermott as AstroTurf Softball Player of the Week for games played in the fifth weekend of the 2022 season.

McDermott, a  sophomore outfielder from Townsend, Del., was an instrumental part in helping the Cavaliers to a 3-1 record this past weekend. McDermott currently sits at a .545 overall batting average, going 4-for-11 from the plate with a 1.455 slugging percentage, five RBI's, six runs scored and two home runs on the week.

Most notably, McDermott's launched home run to right center in game one against Anderson on March 3 propelled the Cavs to a walk-off 3-2 victory. Then, Anderson was ranked No. 21 in the Division II Top 25 Coaches Poll.

This is McDermott's first Player of the Week honor of the season.
