MARS HILL, N.C. - - After losing the series opener Friday, host Mars Hill bounced back with a pair of baseball victories over UVA Wise by scores of 10-4 and 5-3 at Henderson Field Saturday.
GAME ONE
SWAPPING RUNS
Mars Hill took a 1-0 lead after the first by way of a run-scoring double from Tyler Lala. Â In the third inning, UVA Wise took the lead on Tyler Campbell's eighth homer of the season, a two-run blast to left field. The lead was short lived as the Lions tied the game back up on a sacrifice fly from Alex Narran in the home half of the frame.
MARS HILL TAKES LEAD FOR GOOD
A two-run homer off the bat of Kyle Jenkins put the hosts in front 4-2 after four innings of play. An inning later, the Cavaliers cut the lead in half on an RBI groundout from JoJo Kelliher but it would be as close as Brandon Costa's team could get.
Mars Hill would score the game's next six runs en route to the 10-4 triumph.
BOX SCORE NOTES
Campbell's homer was the fourth he's hit this season against South Atlantic Conference foes. Justin Reed was the only Cav to have multiple hits as he registered two in the loss, Cole Harness belted a solo homer for UVA Wise's fourth run.
