WISE - - UVA Wise and Concord split a non-conference baseball doubleheader at Stallard Field Wednesday. The Cavaliers won game one 10-9 in 11 innings before the Mountain Lions won the night cap 14-11.
GAME BY GAME
GAME ONE
LIONS START STRONG
Concord raced out to a 6-0 lead after 1 1/2 innings of play as the visitors scored four unearned runs. Joey Duffer lined a two-run single, Daniel Layne knocked in a run, DJ Christian singled home a run and Anthony Stehlin plated a run in the fast start.
CAVS BATTLE BACK
Run scoring hits from DJ Dickson and Bret Roberts cut the lead to 6-2 in the home second only to see Concord plate a pair in the top of the third to go back in front six runs.
UVA Wise would score four runs over the next two innings as JoJo Kelliher and Kyle Hoeth both walked with the bases loaded, Dickson lined a sacrifice fly and Hunter Meador knocked in a run on an RBI ground out to make it an 8-6 contest.
TYING IT UP
A solo homer off the bat of Tyler Campbell made it a one-run game in the sixth before Roberts tied the game on a base hit in the seventh to force extras.
CONCORD GOES BACK IN FRONT
Zack Saryeldin put the Mountain Lions in front in the 11th inning when he doubled home Christian.
UVA WISE WALKS IT OFF
Roberts again tied the game with a base hit in the home half of the frame before Campbell walked with the bases loaded, allowing Evan Stanley to score the game-winning run.
ANDERSON STRONG IN RELIEF
While the UVA Wise offense walked it off, it could not have happened without the pitching of reliever Hunter Anderson. The hurler allowed just one run while fanning a pair and allowing two hits to earn the mound victory.
BOX SCORE NOTES
UVA Wise picked up 14 hits, three of which came from Roberts who also knocked in three runs. Clay Taylor, Campbell and Dickson all had two hits each while Campbell and Dickson also knocked in a pair.

GAME TWO
HIGH SCORING FIRST
Concord struck for two runs in the first on a two-run single by Duffer before UVA Wise plated three in the home half of the frame on a three-run homer from Cole Harness.
LIONS GO ON TOP
Stehlin tied the game with a base hit in the second before plating four runs in the third. The big blow in the inning came when Saryeldin doubled in a pair.
STANLEY GETS IT CLOSE
Stanley cleared the bases with a three-run double to cut the Concord lead to 7-6 after three innings of play.
SWAPPING RUNS
Each school would score a pair of runs in the fourth with UVA Wise's runs coming on a two-run blast from Campbell.
TAYLOR GIVES UVA WISE LEAD
Taylor cleared the bases with a three-run double to give the Cavs an 11-9 lead after five innings of play.
LATE RUNS PROPEL CONCORD TO WIN
The Mountain Lions scored the game's final five runs to claim the 14-11 triumph. Christian tied the game with a run-producing double before Chris Hatcher put the guests in front with an RBI double.
BOX SCORE NOTES
Roberts went 3-for-3 with a trio of runs scored while Stanley was 1-for-1 with two walks and three RBI.
