Box Score WINTER PARK, Fla. - - No. 9 Rollins won its seventh consecutive game to start the season with a 17-7 non-conference women's lacrosse victory over UVA Wise Wednesday in what was the first ever meeting between the two programs.
FIRST PERIOD SPURT
The Tars scored five of the game's first six goals to take command early and never look back. Caroline Gastonguay got the scoring started just 30 seconds into the game to give Rollins a lead it would never relinquish. During the spurt, Liz Fahey and Ashley Goldstein each added a goal while Taylor Kienle scored twice for the nationally ranked squad.
CAVALIERS GET IT CLOSE
Trailing 5-1, UVA Wise scored two of the second quarter's first three goals as Abby Stoffelen and Malory Trimble each found the back of the net to make it a 6-3 affair. Rollins countered with a pair of goals before a Sydney Trask goal made it an 8-4 game with 4:14 to play in the half.
PUTTING IT OUT OF REACH
A 7-0 scoring run to end the first half and start the third period put the game out of reach for the Tars. Abigail Cawley, Gastonguay, Claire Reist, Paige Kienle, Taylor Kienele, Ali Rogers and Fahey all scored during the decisive stretch.
