HARROGATE, TENN — UVA Wise couldn't overcome a swift three-match sweep from the Milligan Buffalo in doubles play, falling by a 6-1 score on Saturday.
The first two doubles matchups ended in a 6-1 loss each, as Liza Akimenko and Sarah Moore couldn't hold off Kylie Emerson and Macy Kennedy in the No. 1 spot. The No. 2 spot saw Kerson Light and Hannah Nelson win from the same score over Katya Akimenko and Anna Hupperten.
In the third doubles match, Grace Hall and Emily Conn lost by a score of 6-4 to KC Barrett and Katie Leonard.
In the no. 1 singles match, L. Akimenko took the only win for the Cavs against the Buffalo, as she took down Barrett by scores of 6-4 and 6-1.
The rest of the singles matches ended in defeat, as Moore, Hupperten, Conn, and Sara Nichols took losses against Kylie Emerson, Kennedy, Light, Nelson and Leonard.
The loss puts the UVA Wise Cavaliers at an 0-5 record in the spring season, and puts their overall record at 5-6.
