AUGUSTA, Ga. - - Host Augusta University lined 20 hits, including a trio of homers en route to a doubleheader sweep of UVA Wise Saturday. The Jaguars took game one 8-3 before winning the finale 9-4.
GAME ONE
Tyler Campbell blasted a solo homer to give UVA Wise an early 1-0 lead. The Cavaliers would not score again until the seventh inning when Hunter Meador had a run-scoring double and Justin Reed produced an RBI groundout.
In between the scoring by the guests, the Jaguars put up eight runs. Ben Markiewi launched a two-run homer while Pat Gavlin, Kyle LaRoche and Jordan Wilkie joined Markiewi as Augusta players with two hits.
GAME TWO
Campbell started game two the same way he started game one but this time it was a two-run shot. Again, Augusta countered with a flurry of runs scoring seven times to take a 7-2 lead to the fifth inning.
In the fifth, JoJo Kelliher doubled in Gavin Birkhimer and Evan Stanley scored on a wild pitch to get the Cavs within three at 7-4. A half inning later, Walker Sinclar put the game out of reach with a two-run double to provide the Jaguars with the winning margin of 9-4.
