WISE - - UVA Wise sophomore Robert Carter has been named Second-Team All-Region by the D2 Conference Commissioner's Association. A Ringold, Va. native, Carter established a new single-season NCAA Division II era program record with six interceptions while ranking first in the South Atlantic Conference in the category.

Carter scored in a variety of ways this fall. The defensive back, picked off a pass and returned it for a touchdown, returned a kickoff for a touchdown and scooped up a fumble, and returned it for a touchdown.

The former Dan River High School standout, tallied 42 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, four bass deflections and a fumble recovery, in addition to his league-leading six interceptions.

Also a First-Team All-SAC selection, Carter averaged 21.29 yards per kick return. He highlighted his special teams play with a game-opening 96-yard touchdown kick return against Emory & Henry.
