SALSIBURY, N.C. - - UVA Wise junior cross country runner Chase Templeton made history Saturday when he became the school's first student-athlete, regardless of sport, to be named a South Atlantic Conference Wealth Enhancement Elite 23 winner.
This award honors the student-athlete with the top cumulative grade-point average (based on a minimum of 48 credit hours) in each of the league's 23 team championship sports. A psychology major, Templeton has posted a 4.0 gpa.
Additionally, Templeton is the Wesley Foundation student president, the Psi Chi Honors Psychology Program vice president, a TRIO SSS student mentor, a tutor in the writing center on campus, a fomer Virginia Sports Information Directors All-Academic honoree and the LGBTA Club treasurer.
Earlier this season, Templeton ran a personal best time of 32:17.0 at the Roanoke College Invitational.
