GAFFNEY, S.C. — UVA Wise put an end to Limestone momentum with a 25-21 second set win, but fell victim to Limestone's Josie Curran on the attack and succumbed by a score of 3-1 (13-25, 25-21, 12-25, 21-25) on Saturday, Oct. 22.
UVA Wise (4-15, 1-13 SAC) put up a .215 hitting percentage in the match against Limestone's .275, with junior Cassidy Farley, sophomore Morgan Blevins, and sophomore Kaylee Scarce leading the way with nine kills each. In their victorious second set, the Cavs put up 17 kills and took a significant 22-16 lead over the Saints (9-8, 6-8 SAC) due in part by freshman Bailey Conner's swing. Limestone struggled to cut the deficit, and fell 25-21.
Limestone's Curran was the key factor in the overall win, as the senior put up six kills in the first and fourth set, five in the second, and a kill in the third set.
Farley put up a .750 hitting percentage on the day, marking a career high. The upperclassman's nine kills also marked a season high.
Freshman Piper Suddeth added a team-high 19 assists and freshman Kamryn Livingston added 15 digs.
Up next, the Cavs are back on their home court to face non-conference opponent Lees-McRae on Tuesday, Oct. 25 with first serve slated at 7:00 PM.
