BLUEFIELD, W.VA. — The Cavaliers couldn't get their offense rolling tonight against Bluefield State, falling in three straight sets to the Big Blue (25-13, 25-23, 25-22).
Kateryna Dashevska of the Big Blue (10-10 DII IND.) led her squad through a first-set win, slamming down the first kill of the night. Big Blue errors and shots from Bailey Conner aided UVA Wise in a revival, but were held off to a 25-13 loss.
The second set saw a more aggressive UVA Wise campaign, with each squad forcing point-by-point until the score was 22 even. A kill from Kinley Norris of the Cavs and a kill from Big Blue's Allyson Martin tied the set at 23 soon after. In the set's final moments, another kill from Caely Pickerd and a Cavalier attack error sealed a 25-23 tight win for Bluefield State.
In the third set, UVA Wise controlled a 10-6 lead with help from Conner and Blevins in the kill department. Another Cavalier rally included three service aces to put them ahead at a 14-9 score.
