Box Score JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Women's tennis was swept on the road by the Eagles of Carson-Newman University Tuesday afternoon. Juniors Liza Akimenko and Katya Akimenko prevailed in a 6-4 victory over the Eagles Ana Carla Resende and Abby Reis at the No. 1 doubles spot.
Juniors Grace Hall and Lillian Morris teamed up for the Cavs (2-12, 0-9 SAC) at No. 2 doubles as the pair were defeated by Carson-Newman's (10-6, 6-4 SAC) Hannah Price and Natasha Forest, 6-1. The Eagles took the doubles point with a default win at the No. 3 spot.
Liza Akimenko was outlasted in her match at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 7-5, by the Eagles Resende while Kayta Akimenko was edged 8-4 at the No. 2 spot. Hall and Morris were each swept by their opponents, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 3 and No. 5, respectively. At No. 4, freshman Sarah Moore was topped by Carson-Newman's Alisa Liashova 8-4 while the Eagles' Julia Speiser won by default at the No. 6 spot.
Head coach Danny Rowland's squad will return to action Wednesday, April 7 for a conference match at Mars Hill. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
