ROCK HILL, S.C. – UVA Wise women's tennis junior Liza Akimenko has been named an All-South Atlantic Conference Honorable Mention in singles the league office announced Wednesday morning.
Akimenko finished the campaign with a 10-6 overall record at No. 1 singles as she ended the season with back-to-back conference wins on the road at Mars Hill and at home against Anderson. The 6-foot-1 junior compiled a 5-6 league mark at No. 1 singles, gaining three more conference victories over Catawba, Limestone, and Lincoln Memorial.
Queens University of Charlotte's Yana Fleyer was voted the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Year, while Wingate University's Elena Gunfaus was voted Freshman of the Year. In addition, Wingate's head coach Michael Cabana was named the Coach of the Year.
