CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The men's and women's cross country teams ran in the Royals XC Challenge in Charlotte, N.C. on Friday night and placed 24th and 12th, respectively.
On the men's team, Nick DeBoard finished the Men's Blue 5k in 136th for the Cavaliers, with a time of 31:35.2. Peyton Salyer finished close behind with a time of 32:21.5 at 146th. Teammates Chase Templeton and Connor Giza came in 166th and 169th with times of 35:09.2 and 35:50.2. Quinlan Turner of the Cavs finished out the effort with a time of 43:47.5, coming in 180th place. Overall, the Cavs came in 12th place on the night, with Davis & Elkins College as the victor. Davis & Elkins College's top runner, Carter McKenna, finished with a time of 25:18.7.
On the women's side, Haley Sykes finished the Women's Blue 5k in 24th place with a time of 20:27.6. Right behind her was sister Kaley Sykes who came in 55th place with a time of 21:46.3. Isabella Mullins and Lexie Rhoton came in 72nd and 138th with times of 21:46.3 and 23:54.4. Rounding out the effort was Eden Collins who came in 149th at 24:58.2 and Brook Wheatley who finished in 156th at 26:39.8. Davis & Elkins also took home the W for the women, with their top runner Maya Brinson finishing with an 18:51.6.
