MARYVILLE, TENN. — The UVA Wise Highland Cavaliers women's tennis team swept the Maryville College Scots today, winning 9-0. 

In the singles, Anna Hupperten of the Cavs took down Melanie Kowalewski by scores of 7-5, 6-3. Next, Sarah Moore grabbed an easy win against Abby Diggs with scores of 6-2 and 6-1. In the No. 3 spot, Grace Hall and Emily Shwaiko battled and Hall came out victorious with a 6-3, 6-3 win. Emily Conn took stage next and grabbed a W against Eliza Chesire by 6-1 and 6-0. In the 5th spot, Sara Nichols took down Abby Smither 6-1, 6-1, and teammate Liza Akimenko won by default due to no opponent.

In the doubles, K. Akimenko and Hupperten partnered up to take down Kowalewski and Chesire by a score of 8-1. In No. 2 doubles, L. Akimenko and Nichols kept Diggs and Shwaiko scoreless and won 8-0. In the No. 3 spot, Hall and Conn finished off the day with a default win due to a no opponent. 

The Cavs finished off their fall season 5-1 and will come into their spring season in 2022.
