UVA Wise Women Visit LMU Monday

Storylines – vs LMU

Lincoln Memorial University will look to get back on track when Devan Carter's team plays host to UVA Wise Monday. The Railsplitters saw their two-game winning streak snapped in Wise Wednesday before the team dropped a home contest to Catawba Saturday. Injuries and sickness have wreaked havoc on LMU this season but the team did get some reinforcements Saturday. Addi Kirkpatrick and Mikayla Kuehne made their return to the lineup combining for 13 points and 10 rebounds in the team's 72-63 loss to Catawba. Lauren Flowers continues to be the team's driving force. Flowers scored 19 points while grabbing 12 rebounds en route to her second double-double of the season Saturday. Fatigue could play a role in the game, Flowers along with Lexi Kiser and Lindsay Proffitt have each played all 40 minutes in back-to-back games. Despite the consecutive defeats, LMU continues to be one of the league's best defensive teams. Opponents are shooting 39 percent against the Railsplitters while scoring a league worst 61.2 points per game.

About UVA Wise

UVA Wise will look to extend its longest winning streak as a NCAA Division II member and score a victory in a place that has been challenging for the program historically when the team visits LMU Monday. Jamie Cluesman's team has won seven consecutive games and is off to a 7-1 start to the season after defeating the Railsplitters 78-63 in Wise Wednesday. Monday's game in Harrogate may present the program's best opportunity of winning at LMU in some time. All-time, UVA Wise is 1-14 in games played in Harrogate with the lone win coming in 1978. To complete the season-series sweep, the Cavs will likely have to rely on continued balanced scoring. UVA Wise has five players averaging double figures, including sophomore Nia Vanzant who leads the team with 16 points per game. A big spark for the team has been the play of reserve center Meg Crawford. The 6-foot-2 redshirt junior scored 23 points Wednesday while blocking seven shots. On the season, Crawford is posting 14 points, seven rebounds and three blocks a game. A pair of Cavs posted a double-double in Monday's victory; sophomore Caitlyn Ross scored 10 points and tied a career-high with 13 assists while redshirt senior Kalee Johnson netted  17 points and grabbed 10 boards as she reached double figure scoring for the seventh consecutive contest. Lending a helping hand has played a large role in the success of UVA Wise thus far. The team ranks fourth nationally in assists per game at 19.6; the number is boosted by Ross' 6.6 assists per game which ranks fifth nationally.
