- UVA Wise enters into Friday afternoon's matchup with Lenoir-Rhyne holding a 2-2 overall mark. The team opened the season with back-to-back wins before suffering a pair of road losses at Lee University (Tenn.), 15-12, and Young Harris College, 20-15.
- Against the Flames of Lee University, sophomore Caroline Earnshaw posted a team-high four goals and eight draw controls. Senior Jesse French added a game-high five assists.
- The Cavs followed Friday's game with a contest at Young Harris Sunday with French posting a team-leading five goals and adding two assists to total seven points as she broke the program's individual career points record with her 202 career points.
- French's 14 assists rank her first in the South Atlantic Conference among individual league leaders while her 22 total points place her fourth in the conference.
- Fellow senior Ashley Wells registered four goals in the win as she captured her 100th career point in the loss. Wells has nine goals and a pair of assists to start the campaign.
- Through the first four games, Caroline Earnshaw's 14 goals lead the Cavs (tied for ninth in the SAC) while also collecting a team-leading 21 draw controls (fourth in the SAC). Freshman Ashley Shannon and junior Riley Fenster have recorded 10 draw controls each to date.
- Sophomore Kameryn Darrington has a team-high 17 ground balls (tied for eighth in the SAC) and eight caused turnovers to lead the defense. Junior Erin Smith falls close behind Darrington with 12 ground balls.
- UVA Wise ranks third in the league in a trio of categories, assists (27), ground balls (90), and caused turnovers (54), heading into the conference slate.
- Head coach Meghan Dennehy's squad will pause SAC play next week as the team travels to Florida to play two games. Up first, the Cavs will take on Palm Beach Atlantic University Monday, March 9, with first draw slated for 5 p.m.
Notes on Lenoir-Rhyne University
- Head coach Carlee Buck's team welcomes UVA Wise for the Bears fifth game of a six-game homestand to open the campaign. Lenoir-Rhyne currently claims a 2-2 record and are 1-0 in the SAC following a dominating 18-4 rout of Newberry College last Wednesday. The Bears two losses have both been to nationally-ranked programs in No. 23 Saint Leo, 16-15, and No. 6 Tampa, 19-6.
- Against the Wolves of Newberry, the Bears totaled 31 shots to 11 for the Wolves. Lenoir-Rhyne picked up 21 ground balls to 12 for Newberry and won the draw control battle 16-8.
- Two Bears have recorded double-digit goals already this campaign in redshirt junior Alyssa Sack (15) and sophomore midfielder Gia Colombo. Colombo has added a team-high 10 ground balls and 15 draw controls to her stat line along with eight caused turnovers.
- Senior attacker Cathleen Gaffney's 10 assists place her atop the category for Lenoir-Rhyne while also netting seven goals so far this season.
- As a team, the Bears fall just behind the Cavs in SAC rankings at fourth place with their 26 assists. Lenoir-Rhyne is also fourth in the league in draw controls (62) and has converted 56-of-77 clears to rank third in the SAC.
- Coach Buck's team will wrap up their six-game homestand Monday with a 5 p.m. draw against Young Harris.

- UVA Wise played Lenoir-Rhyne for the first time on the road last March when the Bears outlasted the Cavs, 16-11.
