About UVA Wise
- UVA Wise is coming off of a 13-6 season and back-to-back conference championships as a member of the Mountain East Conference as the team enters into its inaugural season as a member of the South Atlantic Conference. Sixth-year head coach Meghan Dennehy's team was picked to finish fourth in the SAC preseason coaches poll.
- Senior Jesse French is just 16 points away from claiming the program's individual points career record, a title currently held by former player Sydney Steinberg. French recorded 79 points during her junior campaign and has amassed 180 points over three seasons as a Cavalier. She was one of three Cavs to garner All-SAC preseason acclaim as she was named to the preseason second team.
- The Cavs are also aided by veterans Ashley Wells and Abby Wills this year. Wells accumulated 34 goals and nine assists last season, starting in all 19 games. The 5-foot-11 attacker also registered 43 points and 24 ground balls during the 2019 season. Willis totaled 13 ground balls and 15 caused turnovers for the Cavs and tacked on two goals last year.
- In the net, UVA Wise returns senior Elsa Girardo who posted 164 saves alongside a .440 save percentage and gained 10 wins during the 2019 campaign.
- Junior Charlotte Hess was also named to the preseason All-SAC second team. The 5-foot-7 defender started in all 19 games as she registered 32 ground balls, 25 caused turnovers, and four draw controls last season.
- Sophomores Caroline Earnshaw and Ellie Earnshaw are both coming off of impressive rookie campaigns as each were named to the all-conference freshman team a season ago. Caroline also picked up All-SAC preseason honors as she was named to the first team after netting 46 goals and totaling 55 points and 65 draw controls last year. Ellie finished with 22 goals, 26 ground balls, and 52 draw controls to complete her freshman campaign.
- UVA Wise will return to action on the road at the University of Charleston next Friday for a 6:30 p.m. draw.
Notes on North Greenville University
- The Crusaders enter into Friday's matchup with an 0-2 record after falling to No. 13 Limestone College, 14-8, and Wingate University, 19-8, on the road. The team returned to action over a week ago after posting a 10-8 mark, 7-3 in Conference Carolinas play last season. North Greenville was picked to finish fourth in the league in the 2020 preseason poll after advancing to the semifinals of the conference tournament to conclude their 2019 campaign.
- Senior Rachel Kellogg returns to the team after she picked up an All-Conference Carolinas first team nod last year. The midfielder set a number of records for the Crusaders program during her junior year as she tallied 67 goals and 92 draw controls. Fellow senior Jillian Chiesa notched 25 goals last year along with 65 draw controls and 38 ground balls.
- Through the first two games of 2020, Kellogg has registered a team-high five goals along with eight draw controls. Chiesa leads the team with 13 draw controls while adding two goals and two caused turnovers.
- Head coach Brianna Temples team will return home to take on Lander University for a non-conference contest beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

- The two teams last met in March of 2017 when the Cavaliers defeated the Crusaders, 9-8, on the road.
