WINGATE, N.C. – Men's cross country competed in the Bulldog Stampede hosted by Wingate University Saturday morning. The Cavaliers finished 15th overall in the 8K race with a total time of 2:42:36 and averaged a pace of 32:31.
Mount Olive won the team title with a total time of 2:10:12. Wingate junior Micah Kipchumba secured the individual title with a time of 24:23. The race featured eight total South Atlantic Conference programs.
Freshman Austin Yeary crossed the line first for UVa-Wise with a time of 30:05 and an 82nd place finish. Senior Tanner Redinger clocked in at 31:06 to place 96th in the race. Freshman Thomas Salyer ran the 8K in 33:30 followed by fellow freshman Peyton Salyer who posted a time of 33:39. Junior Ryan Frederick registered a time of 34:15 with senior Ciaran Wheatley rounding out the Cavalier runners with a time of 41:16.
Head Coach Sarah Smith Carlson's men's squad will compete next at the Hornet Harrier Invitational Saturday hosted by Shenandoah University.
