About UVa-Wise

-         UVa-Wise will be looking to win back-to-back tournament titles on its own field. A year ago, the Cavaliers outlasted Shepherd University in the championship game 12-11 in triple overtime.

-         Freshman Katie Allen tied a career-high with a game-high four goals in the Cavaliers' semifinal victory. It was the third hat trick of the season for Allen.

-         UVa-Wise can tie Shepherd for the most MEC Tournament titles with a win in its final MEC game. Next year, UVa-Wise will compete in the South Atlantic Conference.

-         Sunday's championship tilt is a rematch of a game played last Friday. In that contest, UVa-Wise built a four-goal halftime lead before upending Wheeling Jesuit 22-14, six Cavs recorded a hat trick in the win led by Jesse French, Ashley Wells and Caroline Earnshaw who all netted four goals.

-         With a win Sunday, seniors Jessica Apgar, Kristin Gobbi, McKayla Grasham and Sydney Steinberg would complete their career with 50 wins and back-to-back regular season and tournament titles.

Notes on Wheeling Jesuit

-         MEC Freshman of the Year Mackenzie Kaderabeck broke the MEC Tournament single-game scoring record Friday when she netted 10 goals in her team's 21-13 win over Shepherd. Kaderabek also tied the single-game points record with 10 points.

-         A win would give Wheeling Jesuit its second tournament title in three seasons. The Cardinals claimed the 2017 championship 14-8 over Shepherd on their home field.

-         While Sunday's championship will pit the last two champions, it will also pit the two highest scoring teams in the MEC this season. UVa-Wise posted 15.9 goals per game during the regular year while Wheeling Jesuit scored 14.7 goals a night.

-         Led by Paige Orbell's 5.5 and Kaderabek's 4.9 draw controls per game, Wheeling Jesuit leads the league in draw controls with 16.1 a game.

Series History

The all-time series is tied 3-3 and the two programs have never met in the league tournament. UVa-Wise has won each of the last three meetings but, Wheeling Jesuit is the last MEC team to win at Smith Stadium when they knocked off the Cavs 13-10 on April 15, 2017.
