SALEM, Va. - - UVa-Wise enters into day two of the Mountain East Conference tournament following a 3-0 loss to No. 1 North seed West Liberty University Friday afternoon. Inclement weather suspended play during the opening day, moving the Cavaliers' evening game against Concord to a 10:30 a.m. start on Saturday.

About UVa-Wise
UVa-Wise fell in its first game of the MEC tournament Friday afternoon to No.1 North seed West Liberty. The Hilltoppers have now won three-straight against the Cavaliers including a pair of wins last month.
Junior Taylor Creasey capped off a strong campaign as she leads her team with a .319 batting average, 45 hits, and a .638 slugging percentage. Creasey was recently named to the All-MEC Second Team as the only Cavalier softball player to garner All-MEC acclaim.
Sophomore Alexis Miles' 10 home runs this season lead the Cavs while .601 slugging percentage falls right behind Creasey in the MEC individual rankings. The designated player is batting .308 with a team-high 34 runs. Miles and senior Shannon Bennett each have 44 hits to date this season, the second-most on the team, while Bennett is batting .312, the second-highest average on the team.
Sophomore Kaylee Jones has recorded 33 runs so far this season, scoring at least one run in each of the Cavs last four games. Batting .299 this year, Jones is one of four Cavalier players who has broken 40 hits this season including seven doubles, two triples, and nine home runs.
In the circle, junior Raychel Lapallo and sophomore Kailyn Spencer have taken on most of the duties with Lapallo earning nine wins while Spencer has gained 10 this year. Lapallo's twirled nine complete games including two shutouts during the regular season and currently claims a 4.46 ERA.
Notes on Concord University
The Mountain Lions had four players recently earn All-MEC honors including junior Jenna Witt who was named Player of the Year, freshman Laura Thompson who was named Freshman of the Year, while senior Kylie Kent and sophomore Cartney Schoolcraft were each selected to the All-MEC Second Team.
Concord now holds a 34-18 overall mark after falling in their only game on the opening day of the MEC tournament, 4-1, to No. 3 Fairmont State University.
Witt currently claims a team-high .417 batting average and 70 hits so far this season including 16 doubles and eight home runs. Her .655 slugging percentage leads her team along with a .481 on base percentage. During the regular season, Witt led the league in batting average and hits.
Witt and Thompson lead their team in runs with 41 and 57, respectively. Thompson has recorded 65 hits to date while posting a team-best .495 on base percentage.
Schoolcraft leads the Mountain Lions' pitching staff owning a 2.32 ERA with 16 wins across 130 innings pitched and 11 complete game performances. Opponents are batting .243 against her while the right-hander has struck out 149 so far this year.

UVa-Wise leads Concord 13-11 in the all-time series after the Cavaliers went 3-1 against the Mountain Lions during the regular season.
