About UVa-Wise

-         UVa-Wise will be looking to win back-to-back tournament titles on its own field. A year ago, the Cavaliers outlasted Shepherd University in the championship game 12-11 in triple overtime.

-         Head Coach Meghan Dennehy recently secured her 100th career coaching victory. At UVa-Wise, the coach has claimed 58 wins against 31 losses.

-         Dennehy's squad enters the game having won 11 consecutive home games against league foes. Wheeling Jesuit was the last MEC School to come to Wise and win when they did so on April 15, 2017.

-         Senior Jessica Apgar is the reigning MEC Defensive Player of the Week while junior Jesse French is the reigning MEC Offensive Player of the Week. The award is the second of the year for both student-athletes and comes after a 2-0 week for the Cavaliers. Apgar claimed 15 draw controls, caused five turnovers and scooped up three groundballs during the week. French posted 16 points for the week, including a career-high nine in a 21-3 win over Notre Dame College.

-         Senior McKayla Grasham leads the team with 50 goals while French has tallied a team-best 70 points this season. Overall, the Cavs are the most balanced scoring team in the league with five players having posted at least 50 points this spring.

Notes on Charleston

-         Charleston made the tournament by winning a tiebreaker to take the No. 4 seed. The Golden Eagles were swept in a pair of games against the Cavs this season and were also defeated 18-10 by UVa-Wise in the semifinals of last year's tournament.

-         Charleston leads the league in saves per game at 12.94. Goalie Kyra Tye is posting a .488 save percentage on the season.

-         Samantha Youngman and Alexis Stuck are tied for the third in the league in groundballs per game at 2.5.

-         Charleston enters the tournament having won 2-of-3 to make the tournament as the No. 4 seed for the second straight season. Junior Emma Renda leads the team with 42 goals and is coming off an eight-goal performance in her team's 21-13 win over Notre Dame College.
