WISE - - Cavalier softball stays on the road this week with UVa-Wise facing Concord University for the first time this season in a midweek matchup. UVa-Wise finished this past weekend splitting with the University of Charleston on the road before dropping two games at West Virginia State.

      - After a 1-3 weekend for UVa-Wise, Co-Head Coaches Karen Bitter and Nick Bitter's team now holds a 12-15 overall record and a 6-6 Mountain East Conference mark, currently ranking the Cavs third in the South Division.
      - Senior Shannon Bennett continues to lead the team with her .390 batting average and 30 hits so far this season. The left fielder has recorded at least one hit in nine of her last ten games and claims the sixth highest batting average in the league.
       - Junior Taylor Creasey has also recorded at least one hit in nine of the Cavs last ten matchups while posting a .435 on base percentage and .641 slugging percentage. The center fielder's slugging percentage is the eighth highest in the conference while her five triples this season put her atop the league standings and lead the Cavs.
       - Sophomore Alexis Miles leads UVa-Wise in a trio of categories including runs (17), home runs (5), and runs batted in (17) so far in the campaign. The designated player tied her teammate Creasey with a team-high eight doubles, also ranking her tied for fourth in the league in the category.
      - The Cavs .456 overall slugging percentage is second in the conference while their .280 batting average ranks sixth and their .357 on base percentage ranks fifth in the league. UVa-Wise's 41 doubles so far this year ties for second while their nine triples ties for first in team league statistics.
Notes on Concord University
       - Concord enters into its home doubleheader Wednesday following a 1-3 weekend against West Virginia State and Charleston. The Mountain Lions split a pair of games with the Yellow Jackets on the road before dropping two at Charleston.
       - As a team, Concord is registering the highest batting average in the Mountain East Conference at .329 with 281 hits to date this season. The team also leads the conference in runs scored (176) and runs batted in (152).
       - Jenna Witt sits at the top of the league rankings with her .441 batting average and 45 hits. The junior's .676 slugging percentage is fifth in the league with her .477 on base percentage placing her fourth in the Mountain East. She's recorded a hit in all but three games so far this season.
       - Laura Thompson follows Witt with the second-highest batting average (.376) for the Mountain Lions. Thompson's .478 on base percentage is third in the conference while her 32 runs scored to date are first in the league.
       - Concord is currently ranked second in the South Division with a 19-12 record and a 7-5 record in the MEC.
Series History
       - UVa-Wise and Concord University are tied 10-10 in the all-time series. The Cavs went 3-1 against the Mountain Lions during the 2018 campaign, splitting the final two games against Concord on the road.
