SPARTANBURG, S.C. - - Coker College held off host Converse College by one stroke to take home the Converse Invitational crown at the Carolina Country Club with a two-day score of 631. Meghan Holbrooks of Pfeiffer University took home the individual title with a score of 147, finishing seven strokes ahead of Belmont Abbey's Kaitlyn Gribbon. UVa-Wise finished 11th in the event with a team score of 784.
Sophomore Katie Pritchett (Dry Fork, Va./Tunstall H.S.) led the Cavaliers as she tied for 26th with a two-day score of 173. Teammate Rebecca Farley (Collinsville, Va./Bassett H.S.) was the next highest finishing UVa-Wise golfer as she shot a 189 to finish in 37th. Kenedi Byard (Richmond, Va./Richard Bland) and Bailey Anderson (Grundy, Va./Grundy H.S.) came in 43rd and 44th respectively with scores of 211 and 219 while Katie Brownschidle (Yorktown, Va./Grafton H.S.) withdrew from the event.
The team will return to action Monday at the King Invitational in Bristol, Tenn.
