BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - -
Seeds and game times for the 2017 Mountain East Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament were announced by the league office Sunday afternoon. Regular season champion Wheeling Jesuit University will host the tournament after posting a perfect 5-0 league record in regular season play.

The action will begin on Friday when No. 2 seed UVa-Wise takes on No. 3 Shepherd University at 4 p.m. from Bishop Schmitt Field. The Cavaliers wrapped up their regular season with an 11-8 win over the Rams in Wise on Sunday. It will mark the third consecutive season Meghan Dennehy's team has battled Shepherd in the league semifinals. A year ago, the Rams claimed a 15-9 victory in the semifinals of the league tournament on their way to the program's second consecutive MEC Tournament crown. Two seasons ago, the Rams claimed a 17-2 win in the MEC semifinals.

Friday's second game will pit the top seeded Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit against No. 4 seed West Virginia Wesleyan. The Bobcats suffered a 17-7 setback at Wheeling Jesuit earlier this season.

Friday's winners will meet for the conference championship Sunday at 1 p.m.
