Box Score WISE - - Tusculum used 14 second half goals to claim a 22-18 win over UVa-Wise at Carl Smith Stadium Tuesday. The Pioneers' Hayley Bartlett led all players with five goals while adding an assist as the visitors scored six of the game's final eight goals to improve to 4-0 on the year.
Tusculum (4-0) jumped out an early 3-0 lead as Savannah Elliott, Alycea Ohl and Rachel Holmes all scored in the opening seven minutes of play.
UVa-Wise (0-1) scored two of the next three goals as freshman McKayla Grasham netted her first collegiate goal and Atlanta, Ga. product Hannah Marshall scored. The Tusculum goal came from Erin Simms off a free position attempt.
The Pioneers would run their lead to as many as four goals in the first as Simms' second goal of the half gave the visitors an 8-4 lead with less than four minutes to play in the first 30 minute session.
Meghan Dennehy's squad would score the final three goals of the half. Grasham netted her second goal of the off an Emily Henneberry assist before Rachel Cole scored on a free position shot. The final goal of the came when Grasham beat the first half buzzer to record her first collegiate hat trick.
 The late scoring spurt sent the Cavaliers to the locker room trailing by just one at 8-7.
UVa-Wise tied the game just over a minute into the second half when Annie Hanson scored unassisted. Freshman Catherine Dina picked up her first collegiate goal with 27:39 to go in the game to give Cavs their first lead of the game at 9-8.
The hosts would score four more goals to complete a stretch of scoring five consecutive goals Kristin Gobbi, Sydney Steinberg and Henneberry would join Grasham and Dina as players to score their first collegiate goal while Cole added her second goal of the night.
Trailing 13-8, the Pioneers began their comeback. Tusculum would score three consecutive goals, the last by Bartlett at the 15:50 mark to make the score 13-11.
Henneberry and Hanson each scored for the second time in the half to give the Cavs a four-goal advantage at 15-11 with under 14 minutes to play.
Ohl and Bartlett dominated the remainder of the contest. Ohl scored a pair of unassisted goals while Bartlett found the back of the net on a free position shot to cut the lead to 15-14 with 12:28 remaining.
The Pioneers tied the game on an Elliot goal before taking regaining the lead on a Rachel Holmes goal off an Alycea Ohl assist.
Cole tied the game with 10 minutes to lead on her free positon shot only to see Tusculum score six of the game's final eight goals.
Ohl and Bartlett would combine for three goals and assists over the final 12 minutes as the pair tallied 10 points in the win.
A physical contest, the game featured seven cards and 60 fouls. The Pioneers went 3-4 in extra-man opportunities while the Cavs picked up one goal in their three chances.
Each school collected 29 ground balls in the contest, Christen Craig, Kelsey Crow and Brooke Wagner had four each for Tusculum while Jessica Apgar, Lauren Donahue, Cole and goalie Melanie Reilly had four each for UVa-Wise. Donahue added a game-high five caused turnovers.
Gobbi and Cole led the Cavs with four goals each while Henneberry and Steinberg had two assists each in defeat.
Next up is a trip to the University of the Cumberlands for UVa-Wise. Game time is set for 2 p.m. Saturday from Williamsburg, Ky.
