WISE, Va. – The UVa-Wise women's tennis team will open up the 2015-16 season Sunday as the Cavaliers travel to Berea College in Kentucky for a 12 p.m. match.
The Cavs are coming off a 2014-15 season in which they went 6-11 overall and 4-3 in Mountain East Conference matches. UVa-Wise claimed MEC wins over West Virginia Wesleyan, Fairmont State, Shepherd University and Concord University last season.

Bailey Christoforatos and seniors
Haley Thacker and
Junetta Nuckels. UVa-Wise also welcomes three freshman to compete for the Red and Gray this season.
Last season the Cavs defeated NCAA Division III opponent Berea College 9-0 at home.
The Cavs home opener is Monday at 2 p.m. against Tusculum College as the men's team begins its fall non-conference season.
UVa-Wise begins its conference schedule Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10 a.m. when the Cavs travel to Institute, West Virginia, to take on defending MEC champion West Virginia State.
The top six teams in the regular season standings will advance to the MEC Tournament, held Oct. 16-18 in Charleston, West Virginia.
UVa-Wise will be NCAA postseason eligible for the first time in school history after becoming full NCAA Division II members on Sept. 1.
