Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, W. Va. - Head Coach Meghan Dennehy's squad made its first MEC Tournament appearance on Friday in the first round of women's lacrosse action against Shepherd University. The Rams (11-5) caused 13 turnovers against the Cavaliers (3-14) in the 17-2 victory.
Shepherd jumped out to a 1-0 lead over UVa-Wise with 28:49 left in the first half and never relinquished the lead. Shepherd scored 11 of its 17 goals in the first half.
The Cavaliers scored its first and only goal of the half with 20:28 left on the clock by Taylor Lawton. Lawton scored both goals for UVa-Wise, she also finished with two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Hannah Marshall finished with two ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls. While Rachel Cole added six draw controls and Naya Williams finished with three ground balls for the Cavaliers. Mel Reilly grabbed seven saves and one ground ball for UVa-Wise. This game concludes the 2015 women's lacrosse season.
