Box Score WISE - - West Virginia Wesleyan built a 6-1 halftime lead before outscoring UVa-Wise 2-1 in the final period to claim an 8-2 Mountain East Conference victory Friday afternoon. Jessica Hardman scored five goals as the Bobcats outshot the Cavaliers 27-15 in the win.
West Virginia Wesleyan (10-4, 2-2) scored the first goals of the contest as Hardman found the back of the net four times in the first half.
UVa-Wise (3-9, 1-3) scored its only goal in the half when Hannah Marshall scored unassisted with 5:35 to play in the first period.
The second half became very physical as the two teams were assessed a combined four yellow cards.
The physical play slowed down the action as just three goals were scored in the half. Emily Noel and Hardman scored for the Bobcats while Stephanie Sintetas scored for the Cavaliers.
Naya Williams and Taylor Lawton each collected four groundballs for UVa-Wise.
