Kellie Waycaster pitched an entire nine innings in game one to defeat Glenville State College 3-2 before
Sarah Beamer held the Pioneers to two runs in a 4-2 win.
UVa-Wise (6-16, 6-10 MEC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth of game one as
Bridget Henzel hit a sacrifice fly to right field allowing
Erika McLaughlin to score.
The Cavaliers added another run in the bottom of the fifth as McLaughlin singled up the middle scoring Beamer.
Glenville State (8-24, 3-13 MEC) tied the game 2-2 in the top of the seventh as Tori Parker hit a two-run homer into left field.
UVa-Wise ended the game in nine innings on a passed ball.
Waycaster allowed eight hits, two runs and had a strikeout in the win.
In game two, the Pioneers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-run homer from Bailey Rabel.
The Cavaliers tied the game 2-2 as
Emily Kale doubled to left field, Beamer knocked a single in to left field scoring Kale and
Zoe Millard singled into center field scoring Beamer.
UVa-Wise added two more runs in the bottom of the third as Kale doubled to left center scoring both Henzel and
Mindy Combs.
Beamer pitched seven innings with four hits, two runs and eight strike outs.
The Cavaliers will be back in action on Saturday as the team travels to Wheeling, West Virginia to take on Wheeling Jesuit University at 12 pm.
