WISE, Va. ­–  Kellie Waycaster pitched a complete game in a 7-3 win in the opener before her homer helped UVa-Wise complete a sweep of Urbana with a 12-10 triumph in the finale.

UVa-Wise (3-11, 3-5 MEC) scored one run in the first inning of the opener on an RBI single into centerfield from Erika McLaughlin.

Mindy Combs doubled to centerfield in the bottom of the second, and then advanced to third on a wild pitch. Waycaster reached first on an error allowing Combs to score; giving the Cavaliers a 2-0 lead.

Urbana (7-14, 2-4 MEC) tied the game 2-2 in the top of the third with a two-run RBI double from Kim Corcoran.

The Blue Knights would take the lead in the top of the fifth when Corcoran knocked in her third run of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, Hernandez would score on a Whitney Williams walk to tie the contest.

Later in the inning, Emily Kale belted a grand slam giving her club a 7-3 lead.

Waycaster closed the door in the final two innings to earn her second win of the season. The right hander scattered 11 hits in the complete game effort.

In game two, Urbana started the scoring off with a two-run RBI double from Corcoran to lead the Cavaliers 2-0.

Mindy Combs answered in the bottom of the second with a homerun to left field to knock in Bridget Henzel.

The Cavaliers took the lead when Waycaster hit a two-run homer in the home second.

UVa-Wise would keep the scoring going on a two-run RBI double from Henzel to make the score 6-2. With two outs, Combs walked followed by a homerun from Williams. In total, seven Cavs crossed the plate in the inning giving coach Karen Bitter's team a 9-2 lead.

Urbana added two runs in the top of the fourth on a pair of errors made my UVa-Wise, followed by a two-run homerun from Margo Jackson.

Henzel hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fourth as the Cavaliers increased its lead to 10-6.

UVa-Wise scored its final two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Zoe Millard hit a two-run RBI to right field to knock in Emily Kale and Waycaster.

Urbana put up a fight in the top of the sixth, but came up short with only scoring four runs before the final out was made.

The Cavaliers will be back in action tomorrow against Notre Dame College at 1 p.m.
