WISE - - History will be made Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. when Tennessee Wesleyan visits Carl Smith Stadium for the first ever home women's lacrosse game at UVa-Wise. A first-year program led by head coach Meghan Dennehy, the Cavaliers enter the game coming off their best performance of the season.
On Saturday, the team was tied 4-4 at intermission on the road at Newberry. In the game, Annie Hanson registered the first hat trick in program history while Mel Reilly posted 21 saves in goal. Kelsey Greene added a match-high five groundballs in what was the fifth consecutive game away from home to start the season.
Thus far, Henson has posted a team-high five goals on the year while teammates Hannah Marshall and Rachel Cole have each netted four. In goal, Reilly has posted 59 saves in her first five collegiate contests.
Following the home opener, the team will travel to Lincoln Memorial University on April 1, before returning home for its first ever Mountain East Conference game against preseason favorite Shepherd on April 4.
