Box Score GAFFNEY, S.C. –Limestone College outscored UVa-Wise 17-1 in a doubleheader sweep in the softball regular season opener for both schools Saturday.
Limestone (2-0) used a 3-3 performance from Darrian Jamison at the plate and a complete game shutout from Kelly Shearer in the circle to win game one. Shearer limited UVa-Wise to just one hit in the 8-0 win.
In game two, the Saints jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one. Jamison belted a three-run homer in the big inning.
UVa-Wise (0-2) scored its only run of the day in the top of the second when Emily Kale walked with the bases loaded.Â
Limestone responded with three more runs in the bottom of the third before cruising to a 9-1 win.
UVa-Wise will return to play on February 21 against Kutztown University.
