Allen Named to 2015 VaSID College Division All-State Second Team

Box Score DANVILLE, Va. – UVa-Wise volleyball junior outside hitter Karley Allen continues to add to her list of accomplishments this year with being named to the 2015 Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) College Division All-State Volleyball Second Team Thursday afternoon.

The accolade comes on the heels of being named First-Team All-Mountain East Conference, NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) First-Team All-Atlantic Region and American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Atlantic Region honorable mention. It was the second consecutive year Allen was named First-Team All-MEC and D2CCA First-Team All-Atlantic Region. She has also been named Women's Cavalier of the Month for the months of October and November.

Allen, a native of Lanexa, Virginia (New Kent H.S.), led the MEC in five statistical categories including total kills, kills per set, total attacks, points per set and attacks per set. The junior registered 535 total kills this season for fifth-most nationally at 4.31 kills per set, 11th-best in the nation. Allen's 1,549 total attacks was second among all NCAA Division II players, while her 12.49 attacks per set was seventh nationally and 4.85 points per set 12th. The outside hitter finished third in the MEC in service aces, having recorded 43 this season, and third in total digs with 495. She was also fifth in the conference in service aces per set (0.35) and sixth in digs per set (3.99).

Karley became the first Cavalier to reach the 1,000 career mark in both digs and kills on Oct. 24 when she recorded her 1,000th dig during a 3-0 sweep at Glenville State. Earlier in the season Allen made her 1,000th kill during a MEC road win at West Liberty (3-1). She is now third all-time on UVa-Wise's career kills list (1,290) and fourth in school history in career digs (1,130).

Allen was an integral part of the Cavs' success this year, helping lead the team to 15 wins for the most victories since 2007 and the most wins in a single-season while Head Coach Kristen Salyer has been at the helm of the program.
