JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - - Carson Newman did not lose a set to UVa-Wise in women's tennis action on Saturday as they claimed a 9-0 win. Bailey Christoforatos had the strongest showing of the day for the Cavaliers as she lost 6-2, 6-3 in number three singles to Patricia Guerreiro.
The non-conference match was the season opener for both schools as UVa-Wise enters its provisional year as a NCAA Division II member. The Cavaliers will return to action on Tuesday when West Virginia Wesleyan visits Wise for the Mountain East Conference opener.
