Box Score BRISTOL, Tenn. - - Host King University posted a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-17) victory over UVa-Wise in non-conference volleyball action on Wednesday. The victorious Tornado were led by Summer Kremer who posted a double-double with 11 kills and 11 digs while teammate Olivia Underwood tallied 32 assists.
King (14-9) used a 5-0 run to break a 9-9 tie in the first set before holding off a late rally to post the 25-22 victory. Kremer had five of her kills in the opening set while Underwood handed out 12 assists.
UVa-Wise (12-10) was victim to another run in the second set as King would go on a 15-6 run to close the set. Poor hitting doomed the Cavaliers in the set as the team registered just nine kills against eight errors. The set was the strongest of the night for Underwood who had three kills and eight assists for the Tornado.
King finished off the match in the third set with an 11-4 run to close out the match. The Tornado posted a .389 hitting percentage in the set and finished the match with a .311 hitting percentage. King assisted on 39 of its 43 kills.
UVa-Wise was led on offense by the duo of Ashley Hooven and Veronica Sanchez who each had 12 assists. Brittni Altmann added 15 a match-high 15 digs in defeat.
The loss stopped a five-match winning streak for the Cavs. UVa-Wise will be back in action on Friday at the Prior Center to face nationally ranked Wheeling Jesuit University. First serve is set for 5 pm.
