STORY LINES
  • UVa-Wise is coming off one of its biggest wins of the season, an 82-77 victory over Fairmont State.  In the victory, four Cavaliers scored in double-figures, led by a team-high 20 points from Charles George.
  • Senior Deon Boyce continues to have one of the best seasons in school history.  Through 13 games, Boyce is averaging 16.9 points and 14.2 rebounds per game.  Boyce's rebounding total leads the Mountain East Conference and he ranks 12th in the league.
  • A win Saturday would give UVa-Wise back-to-back road wins for the first time this season.  On the year, the Cavs are 3-4 on the road this season.
  • Saturday's game could be a defensive battle, the Golden Eagles lead the league in scoring defense at 69.5 points allowed per game while the Cavs rank 5th in the MEC in points allowed at 77.8 points per game.  On offense, Charleston ranks 11th in the MEC in scoring offense at 73.6 points per game while UVa-Wise is 9th in the league at 75.8 points per game.
  • One advantage UVa-Wise may have in the game is on the glass.  Thus far, the Cavs are out-rebounding opponents by a +5.6 margin while the Eagles have a -2.7 rebounding margin.
  • Three Cavs rank in the MEC's top ten in rebounding.  Led by Boyce's league leading 14.2 boards per game, Javon Moore ranks seventh at 6.8 per game and Matt Day ranks ninth at 6.6 per game.
