UVA Wise Men's Basketball Staff Adds Joe Adgate

WISE – The University of Virginia's College at Wise (UVA Wise) Head Men's Basketball Coach Blake Mellinger recently announced that Joe Adgate will be joining his staff as Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. Adgate arrives in Wise after serving as an Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina since the 2022-2023 season.

During his four seasons in Salisbury, Adgate assisted the Catawba College Indians to two South Atlantic Conference Tournament Championships and four NCAA DII Tournament appearances. He was instrumental in recruiting, game planning, player development, and program operations. Adgate also served as the Head Coach for Catawba's developmental team.

Prior to Catawba, Adgate served one year as Coordinator of Video Operations for Men's Basketball at East Carolina University where he was responsible for preparing scouting reports, personnel analysis, and play diagrams. In that season, the Pirates won the most AAC Conference wins in program history and had their winningest season in eight years.

Coach Mellinger stated, "I'm excited to welcome Joe to our staff. Joe is a very well-rounded coach who has extensive experience in recruiting, scouting, and player development. His ability to build meaningful relationships, develop players, and connect with our community will make him a tremendous asset to our program. He understands the South Atlantic Conference and he will be able to positively impact our student-athletes on and off the court."

Adgate was a student manager for ECU as well where he earned his bachelor of science degree in business management in 2021.
