WISE - - History will occur this Saturday on the campus of UVa-Wise when the school hosts its first ever Mountain East Conference athletic competition as the women's tennis team plays host to Shepherd University at 1 pm. 

To commemorate the event, the athletic department will be having a reception at noon.  T-shirts and cookies will be provided to those in attendance and Chancellor Donna Henry will serve as the master of ceremonies.  In addition, senior tennis player Andi Kilgore will sing the national anthem prior to the start of play.

The match will be the first of 13 for the Cavaliers this fall, including seven MEC matches.  The fall season will conclude with the conference tournament which is set to kick off on Oct. 18 in Charleston, W.Va.
